AXIS OF REFLECTION
In Workshop I we will discuss to what extent the scientific and technological research, and the modern information and communication technologies and the webs of communication in particular, sustain the creation of webs of knowledge. On the other hand, we will discuss the processes, particularly the organisational innovation and cooperation ones that allow the sustainable development of the webs of knowledge. The following and other subjects will be debated:

  • What are “Webs of Knowledge” and how they can be created;
  • What is the contribution of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) regarding the Webs of Knowledge;
  • The ICTs as infrastructures of the Webs of Knowledge;
  • To what extent and how Human Capital is a crucial factor for the Webs of Knowledge;
  • What is the contribution of Cooperation for the creation and streghtening of the Webs of Knowledge;
  • Which is more important: the Web or the Us of the Web? What’s the correct equilibrium?
  • How should we finance medium and long-term strategies for the growth of the webs of knowledge?

Workshop II: Citizens, Regions, Accessibility and Knowledge Society

AXIS OF REFLECTION
In Workshop II we will discuss how and the way Public Programmes for the promotion of the Information Society should be defined. Which is the most efficient form of interaction between the State, the Citizens and the Corporations for the promotion of the Knowledge Society. On the other hand, we will discuss the processes, particularly the territorial and regional Innovation ones which condition public and private strategies for the construction of Knowledge-based societies. The following and other subjects will be debated:

  • How to define Public Programmes of Promotion of the Knowledge Society;
  • The State, the Citizens and the Corporations in the Knowledge Society;
  • How to render strategies of Territorial Innovation more dynamic;
  • How to render the international regional cooperation more dynamic;
  • How to finance medium and long-term strategies in order to make the construction of the Knowledge Society sustainable;
  • What is the correct equilibrium between the Public and the Private in the construction of the Knowledge Society;
  • What is the importance of regional financing programmes such as INTERREG/SUDOE in rendering the webs of knowledge more dynamic.

Workshop III: Corporations, Innovation and Competitiveness

AXIS OF REFLECTION
In Workshop III the role of Corporations and Corporate Innovation is discussed, particularly corporate strategies for the internationalisation and protection if innovation and invention rights, aiming for competitiveness. On the other hand, we will discuss the processes, particularly the technological innovation, corporate cooperation and Innovation financing ones which allow the sustainable development of private innovation strategies in the very long-term. The following and other subjects will be debated:

  • Corporations and corporate Innovation;
  • The protection of Invention and corporate Innovation (Patents, …);
  • Competitiveness by means of technological Competition;
  • Corporate Cooperation vs. Corporate Competition;
  • Private financing of Innovation and of Technological Research and Development;
  • Technology Parks and the Clusters of corporate Innovation;
  • The internationalisation of technological corporations;
  • The competitiveness of technological corporations and the international Transfer of Technology.
