International Conference "Networks of Knowledge and Network Knowledge"

The Instituto Financeiro para o Desenvolvimento Regional, IP, (IFDR) and the Centro de Gestão da Rede Informática do Governo (CEGER) cooperate in the organization of this Transnational Conference in the context of the Community initiative Programme INTERREG III-B Southeast Europe Space.

It is the IFDR’s function to coordinate the participation in the European territorial cooperation programmes and to ensure its monitoring, having taken the responsibility to organize and hold this Conference in the following of the exercise of the responsibilities of the National Coordinator of the Programme, in a year when it has the presidency of the respective Monitoring Committee.

This Conference has the following goals: capitalizing on the Interreg III-B results and to render dynamic the partnerships in the Southeast Europe Space as an answer to the 1st convocation for the presentation of projects concerning the 2007-2013 period, which is scheduled for mid-April.

The subject of the “Networks of Knowledge and Network Knowledge” Conference will be focused on the goals of the Programme’s Axis III, concerning the improvement of the accessibility to information networks in the Knowledge Society Framework.

The IFDR found that it was important having the external specialized support in the field of the subject mentioned above and to improve both the external and internal effects of this initiative with the direct involvement of an institution that is competent in this area. That’s why it joined the CEGER.

As for the CEGER, as a support service to the government in the information and communications technology areas in the context of the Presidência do Conselho de Ministros and, namely, in the rendering of management and technical support services which have to do with using global external networks, electronic infrastructures common to the Government and public services and organisms, resulting from the Internet’s technological evolution, it meets the  technical, institutional and organisational competences needed for assuring the technical development of this initiative.
